Wondering what it is that causes what I see around the Edge of this coin. I don't think it's rare or valuable just curious what it is. Only reason I posted so many pics is to show all the way around.
Don't sweat it. The more pictures,,,,,,, in focus, (which yours are), the more they get off on it here. Wait for reply. You'll get your answer in no time at all. Gonna take a chance and probably come out of this looking like a fool, but it looks like flow marks, from the pressing of the planchet . Under such high pressure, and the positives and negatives of the die, the metal flows outward toward the collar, thus leaving flow marks in that direction.
Die Deterioration (the start of a Ridge Ring) and Plating Blisters zincoln's are far from perfect specimens when not coddled after leaving the Mint and when the dies are abused because they are after quantity, and not quality for coins used in circulation/commerce.
