I have a beautiful 1902 Indian Head Penny graded by uscg at a ms67. Has anyone any info I can get to see if this is a legit grading co? Jim
I just read quote USCG is not a real company or grading service. They wasn't active in grading collector's coins and existed for the sole purpose of grading their own coins too high to make a profit
It is not considered a TPG, but a self grader and slabbing of their coins for sale, although when times were bad, they did accept coins from others and graded them much too generously. https://www.bestcoin.com/Rating-Coin-Grading-Services.htm go down and you will find. Much better if you really want to know is to post a photo. But do not be surprised. Jim
I really appreciate your time and effort helping me. You seem to be quite honest and open minded with my silly questions.. Jim
The coin appears quite lustrous, however, it is virtually impossible to even 'hazard' a grade with those photogs..........clearer, in focus, pictures required.
In order to have it graded by one of the top companies (PCGS, ANACS, NGC or ICG) you will probably need to break it out of the holder. Once you have done that you can post some pictures and people here can give you guidance as to whether it is worth grading or not
They needed to supplement the financial resources needed to continue emergency service for the crabbing fleet in the Bering Sea. Chris
you should, don't touch it, without gloves, but as it sits that holder distracts from the coin. the grading companies have a checklist of how to prepare the coin on their website.
You can also talk to a dealer and possibly pay him to send in with others, and they do all the prep work and may save you some money. unless you buy membership that you pay yearly, and per coin.
