I was wondering if anybody knows anything about this token. I found only one reference about this merchant. It had the same obverse but a Indian Head reverse. Thanks, Mike
I don't know much about CWT's. But yours has a Stanton Eagle. Have you seen this site? https://www.cwtoken.com/Civil_War_Token_Type_Set/Patriotics/Pages/E_-_Eagle.html#9
I don't really collect CWT's, but I do have a few that I've liked and therefore kept over the years. Thanks for the info. Mike
IDK what is going on with this clown token. The reverse is your normal NO CASH VALUE. However, it is the exact same weight and the exact same size as Chuck E Cheese. Tokens are made purposely to be different size and or weight.
Have no idea what you are talking about! that is a stock/generic token every minter has something similar. All of the same diameter tokens made from brass will weigh about the same. So they will operate the coin-op mech. I have 1,000's of brass arcade tokens that are the same weight, car wash, batting cages, etc. that is just a cheaper way of getting by with out having custom dies made.
Souvenir piece. Not sure whether to call it a medal, token or mongrel. It's reeded, and has a medal alignment. But it's also a good4 Frankenmuth covered bridge in Michigan. 1981, 26.2g, 39mm, antiqued bronze, M/A, reeded, produced by the American Emblem Company Utica, NY. Good for $1.00
Ya , that's a tough one to classify, and I have a few from Chanute AFB that fall into the same grey area. I'm on my phone right now but will post them shortly
@longnine009 So here's my trio from Chanute Air Force Base (I'm pretty sure you've seen them before): Chanute AFB, IL, $1.00; antiqued brass, 39mm, IL30a, Cunningham Volume I p. 104 Chanute AFB, IL, $1.00; antique brass, 39mm, IL30b, Cunningham unlisted Chanute AFB, IL; antique brass, 39mm, IL30c, Cunningham unlisted So I just love this trio of tokens/medals. The first two were obviously minted as a souvenir, possibly intended for use in trade, maybe there was an event? Knowing the Air Force it wouldn't suprise me. I suspect the third was minted only as a souvenir since there is no trade value. I really like the consistent design elements. So are the first two tokens? Medals? Commemorative token ?
