Early find v first find

    i hope this is the correct spot to ask this question if not I’m sorry and mod please move to the appropriate place.. my question what is the difference between Early find and First find?? I see this on slabbed coins on eBay as I’m new to coin collection all the help I can get is Grateful. Thanks and have a wonderful Sunday. Richard

    There are submission time restrictions set by the grading companies based on the release dates of the coins. There was even a 2000 dollar reward given to the "discovery" (first find graded) of the 2019 W quarters. Those submitted within the first X amount of time were deemed early discovery (early find) etc. And the terminology on the slab just varies among the grading companies. So it boils down to when they reached the grading company with regards to release dates from the mint. I not an expert but that is my understanding.

    Welcome to the neighborhood!

    Just like the "attributes" (and I use that term very loosely) for First Strikes and Early Releases, that sort of terminology is just garbage to enable sellers to unload their coins for higher prices.
