I have a silver looking 1946 wheat penny. Just wondering if anyone knows what's up with that? I haven't tested it with a magnet but it can't be steel. Is it possible it's silver, or nickel coated?

If you took pictures, then the cointalk community will definitely have some answers.

Yes it is not only possible, it is likely.

I would sooner thing that it has been coated with mercury.

It might be plated, but it could be the real deal. Do you have the weight of it? Pics would also help too. :D Good luck, I hope for the best. :thumb:
