Anyone notice it seems a little out of place? Like it was copied from some other year or added as a last minute correction or something. It's unusually fat and extends both above and below the other numbers. Maybe I'm looking too hard but when I'm hunting for little date 1982s or Serifs on the FG of 1988 I think it's becoming a habit.
IMO the 2019 D Cent shows die deterioration doubling. Maybe it's just my eyes but Lincoln cents that show DDD also seem to have thicker numbers.
I'm not talking about doubling.... just weirdness. Like who knows, maybe there's two versions out there. One with the correct looking 9 and all these other ones with an enlarged 9 cuz most of them have (if not all) have this fat one. Here's a flat pain proof coin example.
The only reason I mentioned the doubling is because IMO I think coins struck with a worn die makes the numbers look thicker. The worn die is what causes the die deterioration doubling.
