A few of the nicer newps this week: A very nice low grade 1919-D Walker . . . A very scarce 1897-O Gold Eagle in NGC AU55 A very nice better date 1848 Seated Half . . .
I wasn't even looking for one, nor do I collect them but it was a good price and I couldn’t turn it down
And a few more, starting with a beautiful, crusty original mint state 1909-D Half Eagle . . . I didn't capture the color of the grungy slime on the coin very well. This may go out for conservation and grading. A very nice 1841 Seated Half conservatively graded VF25 by PCGS, thanks to John Call . . . And a better date 1895-O $10 Lib graded MS61 by NGC . . .
I love the color and the way that Indian looks, as pictured. Of course, probably looks a little different in hand, so you will make your decision based on that and your own preferences. I’ve been looking for one with the right eye appeal, and as shown, I would have picked that one up, depending on the price (I have a hard time parting with more than $20 on anything). I just spent $15.61 on this mess, though, lol.
So this week I found another clad proof (S) quarter, 2016 Then getting out of my car in the parking lot there was a beat up 1935 D quarter Then yesterday I was given a 1980 SBA proof (I had never seen one before) Then today was a 1952 silver quarter in rough shape and in a bank roll was this 1891 Indian head penny
It actually has quite a bit more character in hand, with a generous amount of the grey / olive green over flashy deep orange surfaces found on classic Euro-gold. I just noticed that my posted newps were half dollar-gold-half dollar-gold-half dollar-gold, and not on purpose . . . wierd how some things just happen the way they do.
Nothing crazy but I bought a couple roll of 2019 D and P to fill my book, but more importantly my first pickup in 10 years, so I guess I have been bitten by the bug again.
Are the 1942 war nickels rare? I find the 43-45 all the time, but none of the 1942 nickels I find are war nickels.
