Well hello first time here I have come across a very rare penny it is a 1982 d.d.s mint but it is laid on side not north and south but sideways has anyone seen something like that
There are a lot of experts here, that can tell you everything about it, but they wont acknolige your concern without pictures.
RPM's.. Repunched Mint Marks fall into the Variety category not the Mint error category. What you told us about your mint mark sounds more like a plating issue.
Use the "Upload a File" option at the bottom of your post. Select "Browse" to search for the correct photo, and once you have selected it, use the "Full Image" option to add it to your post. Do not use the "Thumbnail" option because it sucks. Repeat this procedure if you have more than one image. Chris
Not sure that's what it is, it could be what they call damaged PMD, but I only know enough to get myself in trouble, lets waite for others.
That's just damage on your 1982 D "Large" date. It got hit on the bottom right and pushed up left. For instance, if you look left to that large hit and metal pushed in and over; you can then correlate that something hit the "D" just correct and pushed the metal to the left. Copper is very soft, and this is very common all over the coin. FYI, the coin is 37 years old in the "wild", being circulated where they get all sorts of damage.
Sorry but your coin is damaged. The mintmark suffered a bit after it left the mint. It's worth face value
7 business strike varieties in 82 3 copper, 4 copper plated zink. large and small dates. but the d im not sure of whats going on with yours.
