Off-center, ragged clip, and broken planchet! What's it worth?

The split is hanging on by half a millimeter. It's about to break in half completely.

It is interesting that it's an off center strike.o_O

    Hi:)
That is cool! Amazing how it has been able to stay together all this time. That is one hard misaligned strike!

It looks like it already split in two. The halves don't look like they quite line up. Soak it in some acetone and see if some of the gunk comes off. Other than the off center strike I think the rest is damage.

That gunk is zinc... and the halves are aligned, still attached by a tiny piece.

    @C-B-D
The Cent is an Off Center yes... but the rest is just damaged.
Not a ragged clip. Not a split planchet.

I'm pretty confident it isn't PMD.

OK... but those are not mint errors. I assure you.

It is a corroded Off center cent.

I know what Ragged Clips are.. I have one.. But your Copper plated zinc cent is NOT a ragged clip! That is pure Environmental Damage.

Thank you for your input. I'd like to see what others say since we disagree on this one.

The 2 images you showed are examples of a silver planchet and a copper planchet. True ragged clip errors.
Your 1983 is a copper plated zinc cent which was exposed to something that ate away at the copper and exposed the zinc. I hope you didn't buy that Cent off of ebay

    I agree with @paddyman98

The damage and zinc rot caused what you see. It wasn't a genuine ragged clip that then became damaged.

    Crazy coin. I like it.

It's crazy but I agree that it is only a corroded off center.

  21. Looks as if a cutting torch might have been used on it. Or a plasma cutter. Aside from MAD of course. :)
