I did a Google search on these. Some outfit called the American Mint is offering some them. It’s hard to believe that the ended up in a cash machine. They are charging $33.30 for a dollar coin with a decal on it. The other pieces which are “luxuriously layered in gold” can be priced over $60!
It's fairly noticeable that people are resurrecting old political leaning threads due to the upcoming election year. Seriously , this is where many members depart from the forum. One remark may seem like 'very little' until someone of opposite beliefs makes it bigger and then it cascades. Many people think that since they can still see the original, it has been deemed as OK by the rules. Moderators are not on 24hs, 7 days/week, so when they do read the thread as soon as they are on, many may be in difficulty. The rules mention this area very prominently. If you see a political based comment, stay far away or report it and we will see it sooner, especially those who still have active infractions. If you want to go Political , go to FB, Yahoo, or the special forums that are just for 'political discussion'. Especially be aware of newbies , who quickly segue into the political area. Stay with coins ( regular issue, not propaganda in either direction). Thanks , Jim
Then why don't you lock the thread or make threads older than a couple years automatically locked? You know, like every other forum on the internet.
Old threads shouldn't be locked. Some are still interesting and topical and new points of view or, new insights on an old issue are valuable. Also, very often with new posters, they look up a topic they have a question about and they post their question not realizing it is a years old thread, but the new questions can still be talked about and answered.
I find the old threads very useful at times. It is great information you are asking to be locked away. Please don't change a thing.
Because of 2 factors IMO, 1. The owner/administrators wanted it this way 2. Why? because primarily they produced the forum as a Numismatic education forum and not as an only "Social forum" and that is the way we try to guide it with rules and moderation. I do agree that if it was possible, any date on the bottom line of a post of a last post over 2 years old could be in bright RED, it would be extremely nice but custom programming might prohibit such , Jim
Hi Chris.. This is paddyman98 from the future! How are things back in 2011? I don't join CoinTalk until 2013 so you won't know who I am yet..
Hello paddyman98! This is cpm9ball from 2011. I've only been here for about one year, but what CT needs the most is someone who collects errors and metal detects on the side. You see, we get so many newbies here who don't know the difference between environmental PMD and a true Mint error. Please enlighten them! Okay? Chris
