I agree with 4to2centBC: It doesn't have to be a total loss from a numismatic perspective: there are many exciting coin-related destinations and museums!
Grazi I backpacked thru Europe a few times in my twenties and thirties. I have no doubt that my trip to Greece and Turkey (esp Ephesus) was worth more than any coin then or now. It certainly was another education in life and it influences some of my coin buying decisions today. A nice tet from Kos...........someday.
My heartfelt thanks to @AncientJoe and @TIF for sharing their knowledge and their coins! As others have said, I feel like I am transported into a museum when I visit these sites. Such a tranquil environment, being surrounded by wonderful coins
Thanks LM! Now maybe some day I'll have a chance to add some new content... where is that 25 hour clock when you need it.
It isn't for a lack of trying. I had hoped to cross it off my list via NAC this week but wasn't even close with my bids.
Me either. There was a small fractional said to be from Paphos and I placed what I thought was an aggressive bid. Not even close!
I wish I had that 25-hour clock, and only needed an hour or two of daily sleep. Know how you feel- I'm just trying to add simple obverse-reverse descriptions to my collection at this point (to start with), am nowhere near that goal, and my collection is considerably smaller than yours.
CT's will have soon an opportunity to acquire some coins of the fantastic colosseo collection However I'm a bit surprised to see this masterpiece leaving the collection...
Thanks! I do indeed have a handful of coins in both Nomos and NAC (the latter of which should be online in the next week or so). A collection is an evolving entity and it's been a few years since I've performed any refining so hopefully some of my coins find new homes after spending a number of years under my guardianship.
