Thanks! I used that photo as a contest here some years back wherein the winner was the first person to guess the total weight of all of the silver medals (some are just white metal).

Many thanks to lordmarcovan and all the generous prize donors for helping to continue this great monthly contest!

Now that the spot price of gold is falling, it might be a good time to 'go for the gold' - maybe a Canadian big maple leaf coin ? ;)

I've seen you post it somewhere before, but yes, it is amusing to look at.

    Give 'em the boot! :p

Whatever you do, do NOT drop that one on your foot!

Is it really a "coin" if it takes three guys or a forklift to move?

Here is an extra entry post for @Tlberg. That means that if the random number generator picks the number 48 (this is Post #48), then he will win a prize, just as he will if it lands on the number 14, for Post #14, his original entry post quoted above.

@Tlberg- this means your lucky numbers this month are 14 and 48!

I've got one more free bonus entry to give for this month, since I'm limiting those to three per month.

Technically not coin related, but hopefully it qualifies. In addition to coins, I enjoy collecting currency, both US and foreign. This is a set of 10, 20, and 50 mongo notes from Mongolia. I love the colors and designs on these notes.
Huge thanks to LordMarcovan and all the donors! IMG_20190327_155234491_HDR.jpg IMG_20190327_155210015_HDR.jpg

Currency works. We've got a paper money forum here, after all.

I know doodley-squat about the stuff (other than the notes I spend) but it seems kinda fun. If I collected paper money, it would be US Fractional Currency or interwar German notgeld.

Fractional currency is really interesting. Have thought about putting a set together. Don't know too much about German notgeld. From what I've seen online, some of it is really nice.

The photo to the left of this post is a 1974-D JFK DDO which I found while coin roll hunting. It was a customer roll (rather than a shotgun-tube Brinks roll), and it seemed obvious to me that it was a roll of "rejects" from a typical half dollar coin roll hunter, i.e., remove stack of coins, look at the edges, and dump all non-silver into the reject pile to be re-rolled and taken back to the bank. (I'm sure they just love people who do that.) I never take any coins back to the bank -- the closest I've come to that has been a time or two when I fished around in my pocket for a dollar coin to pay for a couple of penny rolls. We use our non-collectable money as... money. Go figure.

I admit to a wee bit of schadenfreude in pondering the image of a guy tossing my coin back without even glancing at more than the edge, while frantically zipping through box after box of coins in the pathetic hope of finding some of the rapidly dwindling number of silver coins, not stopping to think that if the time spent searching those boxes were instead spent standing at a drive-through window asking, "Fries with that?" he'd be able to buy more silver than he'd find going through countless coins that have already been "hunted" countless times.

    Golly, that's one long sentence!

Hello all and thanks for the fun opportunity for coin sharing/giveaway. Just recently got into numismatics after finding an old morgan dollar my mother had given me and it lit a fire in me. I dont have any pics currently, my collection is kinda small and mostly common but hope to change that over the next few years.

Currently I am fighting all of the urges of going out and buying all the nice coins I am learning about but that totally goes against what I believe the hobby is about. So for now its researching the numerous varieties of coins out there and getting educated on grading and all the fun stuff noobs do. Along with bringing my daughter into the hobby. I really enjoy looking at the craftsmanship and detail that all coins have US and worldwide.

Found this site and have enjoyed perusing all the different forums and soaking up as much info as can be had. I hope to be more active on the forums when I feel I have information worth sharing! Hopefully also participate in the giveaways in the future. It is a super cool idea.

This is a free extra entry for @milkman2518, since he chose to make his first CoinTalk post here.

This means that If the random number generator lands on the number 59 (this is Post #59), then @milkman2518 will win a prize, just the same as he would if it lands on 56 (for Post #56 - the entry post he already made).

So, @milkman2518- your lucky numbers for May are 56 and 59, and may the random number generator smile upon thee at the end of the month! ;)

And that's my three bonus entries for the month, all given out now.
