Giveaway for ancients newbies

The good news is, and in my opinion the best part about ancients, is that you can hold them in your hand and not have to worry about messing them up like modern coins. How boring it is to not be able to touch your coins.

I agree 100%. That is one of my favorite things about ancients. I hate having my moderns in flips and not being able to touch them. Holding history is amazing.

I believe that is the proper amount of generations between now and the fall of the Western Empire ~375 AD.

@Tlberg , did you open the package? Just hold the coins in your hands. They already have paper envelopes for each coin, so that's how you can store them for now until you decide what method of storage you'd prefer....ie. paper envelopes, 2x2 flips, 2x2 cardboard holders, or trays.

Yeah, amazing to think roughly 64 or 65 people stand between us and ancient Rome. Just shows you how brief human life is, and how little time in reality has passed between the ancient world and us, especially when you compare it to "deep time"...ie. the time from us to the dinosaurs, or the time from the formation of the solar system till now, etc.

 

Yeah. Amazing. And now you can take the 23andme analysis and find out quite a bit about your ancestry. Mine was basically all Western European/English/Scandinavian with a bit of Ashkenazi Jew and Middle Eastern thrown in. So I know I'm related to King David and Saladdin Sadly it doesn't extend as far back as ancient Rome.

Yes, that is a Ban Liang, a denomination that was used from around the early 4rth Century BCE until the early 2nd Century BCE....Qin Empire through the early days of the Western Han Dynasty

 

These go with the 1st one - Ban Liang. I know that because they are well labelled

 

Did you get a Wu Shu coin too? One of you got one but I can't remember who. I also don't know who got what Roman coins. My son selected the Roman coins and put them in between the cardboard, that way there's no bias or favoritism in my part and everyone had a fair chance to get the nicer ones. Which Roman coins did you get?

Cool, you got the Wang Mang. He is an interesting emperor to collect because he put out a lot of different coin types as part of his disastrous monetary reforms. One could probably build an extensive collection just around Wang Mang's coinage.
