None of the SMS 1964 coins were put into
circulation. They call came from one source,
an Ex Director of the Mint.

You won't find one in circulation, in a roll, in a
    group, in anything.

Your coin is NOT a SMS coin - a proof, yes.

The 'more out there' is wrong.

If there are any more out there,
they are in Estates of Ex Mint
Directors, or possibly the Floor Manager.

You will NOT find one in circulation,
    change, rolls, bags, etc.

Believe what you'd like - your coin is
    not an SMS example.

I hear what your saying. This coin I received belonged to a collector who was a Vietnam vet who passed in 1990.This coin has been put away for a very long time.didnt get it out of a roll or circulation got it from an 81 year old women who was her husband .I believe what your saying..but didn't the experts believe there was no 1943 copper until someone found it.I will keep it.thanks

I can't find the article, but they were all certified/slabbed.

So someone would have to break one out of it's entombment, and release it to the wild.
And they first were "found" in 1993

I know what your all saying your all the top coin experts. But dosent everyone always preach the die markers in coins must match.Maybe Mr Fred could explain why the main markers match up with my coin.Heres what else came with the 1964 I received. That had been put away for a long time 20190502_140706.jpg 0 years until she gave them to me

Assuming your die markers match those of the SMS Cent,
all that could simply mean that the same Die was used,
but for normal circulation strike coins - which would not make
your coin an SMS coin, just a BU coin struck from those dies.

(and I'm not 100% certain that the die markers match, but
for discussion purposes, I'll accept it)
