This may seem like a silly question , but since I dont know the answer I going to ask anyways. I know you can get rolls of coins at your local bank, or buy them off of ebay, but what if I want rolls that are all the same date just with different mint marks. Do banks stock these new coins. I was under the impression that bank have rolls of coins with mixed dates, etc. And what about armored car companies that pick up change........Counldnt you get coins from them?
If you want rolls that are all the same date and mint mark in each roll then the only way to get them is from a reputable dealer. Banks don't know and don't care what is in their rolls, and yes they can be mixed. And on ebay, you might get anything and everything all in the same roll.
That's exactly what you're doing when you get them from the bank or ask the cashier at Walmart for a couple of rolls - not really much point in dealing directly with Brinks.
Not necessarily true. I know banks don't care but solid date and mintmark rolls do come up fairly often. It's just a matter of being n the right place at the right time. Now THAT can be a problem. Having ascertained that General Godlike lives fairly close to me I can say that in the Chicago area you caan "stumble upon" rolls from both the Philly and Denver mints. I used to trade with people from both coasts and if someone in Boston was looking for D mint I'd send them out if I got them. Now if a friend in Utah was looking for P mint I'd do the same. Yes it was a "crapshoot" but I was ordering a lot change at that time. A Brinks roll of new coins was all from the same mint well over 90% of the time. Heck, I'd sell them to my dealer if he needed them. Depends a lot on how much change you got through and how well you know your tellers.
To th ebest of my knowledge they will not deal with you - they will only deal with a business. And they do not provide coins for free, there is a significant charge over and above face value.
That is why that you should go to the Bank to get the coins! There is no extra charge for rolls of coins above face value! Frank
True, but that is why some banks will want to also charge you a fee for larger amounts, or if you are not a customer will not sell them to you. That part depends on the bank. I have had some branches of the same bank want to charge me big $$$ for rolls while a branch of the same bank two miles away just smiles and gets me what I want without any question.
