1975 proof dime with marks

i bought a set of proof coins and found this dime . Any idea what would cause this ? I’m new to collecting coins

That is from the packaging.

You mean, from where a machine used to crimp the sealing on the package touched the coin inside?

Yes, this actually happens quite often we see a few of these a year.

 

It's not a proof as it's a D mintmark and they don't Mint D proofs. It's damaged from the crimping machine that sealed the plastic sleeve that these are encased in after being minted. Not considered a Mint error.

 

Meow thinks the same. Considering it is PMD, it is actually quite nicely done.

 

What gives you the feeling that it was "Nicely Done" What is goof=d about PMD?
