There are plenty of small dates. While there are no specific numbers (the mintage numbers are total). They minted almost 11 billion 1982 cents in Philadelphia. Most are large dates, but perhaps 2 billion are small dates. They minted 6 billion cents in Denver in 1982. Perhaps 1 billion are small dates. In Philadelphia, they minted small dates on copper and on zinc as 1982 was the year they switched from copper to zinc. In Denver, since the zinc transition came toward the end of the year, they ONLY minted small dates on zinc. Not on copper. It's true that 2 have been discovered (1 very recently) but it's really not a coin to spend time looking for. (1982-D small date copper.)
Once you see the coins (as it shows in this photo) they are very easy to recognize.

Yea Welcome to Coin Talk. Don't be afraid to ask for information or bring a pic of the coin that you are checking out. Just make sure you bring pics of the Obverse and Reverse as well as the error or site of the coin in question. Just a little side note,,,,,,I'm still looking. Haha

You would say small or large date..
Coins are struck/minted.. not printed. Paper currency is printed with ink.
