I have what I think is a unique Maria Theresa Thaler in a plastic case. I purchased it several years ago and I have yet to see another in this type of presentation I am hoping someone else has one like this or can shed some light on it's origin.

    I was given this translation:

German empress, queen of Hungary and Bohemia, Archduchess of Austria 1740-1780. Mother of 16 children.

The Taler has been minted since 1753. Had major significance as a trade taler in the Vorderer Orient (ie. roughly the Middle East) and many parts of Africa, partly until today.

I realize this is a restrike and my research indicates it was struck in Prussia possibly prior to 1930. I suspect it to be a Hapner 49 but not sure.

    Comment welcome, thanks

Correction: Struck at Vienna not Prussia. Issued prior to 1960 not 1930
