Well, you could always spend 'em in special ways, like using 'em for tips, or as gifts to deserving kids who find them interesting. Their large size makes them appealing and novel to non-collectors, since the younger generation will not have seen many.

The circulated clads, while worth a modest premium over face value, are not likely worth any premium to most dealers and seasoned collectors. But in theory at least, they are worth a (tiny) bit over face. Someone might buy the lot for $65 or so, if shipping is free, or cheap enough. $75 delivered doesn't sound crazy to me, if all the coins are EF-AU or better.

And if they're UNCs, they're worth a few bucks apiece.

Me? I'd leave a small stack on the table for the server, the next time I ate in a restaurant, and then hang back and watch from a distance to see their reaction. That right there would be a big enough premium for me. :)

Working in hotels, I've had some guests who like to tip with $2 bills, just to give something fun and different, yet still spendable, if the recipient doesn't feel like saving them. Ike dollars could be used in a similar fashion.

This was a really neat piece I used to own. Some members here helped decipher what it said when I started a thread on it about a year ago.

Exact same countertop material we have in our new kitchen. Too bad our counters don't have boxes of coins on them. And there is only one tangerine left in our bowl. I suppose I could do something about that. (The coins, that is. I'll leave the tangerine stocking to Ladymarcovan and Victoria.)

masterswimmer A Caretaker, can't take it with me

There's certain things I take credit for and those I attribute 100% to my better half. I told my wife 35 years ago all decorating including color selection will always be her choice. Not that I don't care, au contraire, I trust her taste implicitly. She's never left me down.

In case you weren't able to extrapolate, my wife chose that granite. I like your taste too. ;)

Aha. You have real granite. Ours is mere Formica.

Thanks for the giveaway all. I enjoy getting coin related mail (if i win of course).

I was talking to my great uncle and decided to purchase him a ATB park quarter booklet. I really think he will enjoy collecting them. I always try to spur collecting, usually in kids. I will be attempting to run a coin "camp" in the summer at my library. I hope it kicks off!

EDIT: I love that someone included the Beatrix Potter coins. Working in the children's section of a library has given myself a fold loving to the Peter Rabbit series.

(Thanks very much for the opportunity)

Here's a display box I customized myself to house one of my favorite series: The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. There are five coins (one duplicate) because I wanted to show the reverse design that's common to all four. I think this is one of the coolest (awesome stunning details) designs I've seen.

If you look closer, you might notice an "error" or probably "inconsistency" is a better term. The word "of" is written with a lower case "f" for two of the medals and an upper case "F" for the other two.

See? Look there, @mrbadexample. Somebody chose your prize as first preference, so you need not have worried about it not being good enough. I think it's a fun-looking lot.

That is a good question, to which I do not have a satisfactory answer, except that "heads" and "tails" are kind of a colloquial usage (i.e., slang).

This is a free extra entry for @masterswimmer, since ... well... since I've decided I like him, and for no other reason in particular.

This means that If the random number generator lands on the number 80 (this is Post #80), then @masterswimmer will win a prize, just as he would if it lands on Post #68 (the entry post he already made).

I give these little "extra chances" occasionally (did it twice already in this thread for other folks). It is a subtle way to "play favorites" while still keeping the drawings totally random and essentially fair. It just increases a few people's odds a little bit, is all. In no case will anyone ever win more than one prize drawing per month.

So far nobody has won as a result of one of these "bonus chances", but I suppose it may happen eventually. I hereby pledge not to give out more than three of these "bonus chances" in any given month.
