    Don't forget to look a bit more closely as there's damage all over the place on that quarter, not just those 2 locations.

    For damage? If there was everyone would start damaging all their common coins.

    No. We all mean damage as in something damaged the coin after the coin left the mint. Worth only face value.

    good to know, I do have a 1958 D wheat penny in excellent condition though!

    don't be surprised if your "excellent condition" coin is a low/moderate grade.
    To be really good, the coin has to be totally outstanding to the numismatic collector, which is an extremely high degree of perfectness which most newer collectors cannot initially perceive.

    The term "excellent condition" is highly subjective. What training have you received in grading coins?

    You are being deceived by it being Shiny.

    There's damage on the shoulder and cheek. Some spot marks about the shoulder which were probably polished away. A lot of cleaning marks in front of the face amongst other hits and stuff.

    Not a very high grade coin. But it does look shiny.
