Do you think the Lincoln cent will be around in 2030?

God I hope not. But then again, if what I think might happen actually happens then we could see full blown cooper cents again. However my time machine is quite ready yet:lock:

I'm surprised a Lincoln cent collector wishes that pennies didn't exist in ten years...

Please tell Meow what or what you think pennies will be made in copper again? Meow likes the copper pennies so much better than them zinc ones.

At this point there is no reason to think they wouldn't be.

I am a Lincoln Wheat collector. The earlier the better. Although my collection is completed through 2009. After that Id rather see them gone than continue into the monstrosities they are today. What's next? Copper coated plastic?

Be thankful y’all. This Canuck can’t get a penny at a Canadian bank anymore. Many of both varieties of the 2012 circulated, that we threw in a plastic peanut butter jar back when, look actually really sweet. And now that I’m an addict, lol, I gotta pay a premium! I just wanna find someone on the way to the bank with a jar like that, but yeah no! Be thankful y’all!

You bought two 5 gallon buckets of cents at face value. WHO won't let you search them? They are yours aren't they?

Oh I missed it, a friend bought them and he won't let you search them. Got it.

Devyn, how long did it take for the cents to disappear from circulation after they were discontinued?

You say you bought them so who won't let you go through them?

I don’t even remember. 2012 was the year after six and three kids that “she” wanted a divorce. The most I know about pennies now, the bank will cash in but none going out. As for the half dollar, I must have missed it, can’t get them now unless buying new from the mint.

I love the lincoln cent and it is the denomination that I started to collect first. I think that for the cent to be around in 2030, many things would have to change including the cost of production and I don't see that happening. You never know though. New innovations and production methods could keep it hanging on through that time. Ohh the changes in the world we will see by 2030!
