idiots are claiming every were their truth, one guy did post on all 3 and was banned on all 3 so..... it's here were they come on CFDL and on FORVM i like all three forums and "a member" from "a forum" does not shadow the whole platform
I've been lurking at CFDL-Ancients for two or three years. The group mainly signals Ebay fakes sellers, and rightly so. About a year ago there was a spell of infighting with two obvious trolls getting at each other's throats. Several members quit at that moment, and I almost did too. But the trolls went away and the valuable comments started again. One of the members sees possible fakes in almost any coin, but you have curious people everywhere. Keep your wits about you, and a group containing many knowledgeable numismatists (plus a small number of nuts) may really help you spotting fakes. Warren Esty is on the list, one of the avenging angels of fakesellers. I trust him. His list is very useful for any internet buyer. I think the Goldsborough comments date from one of the troll spells, they are past. It's a pity if CoinTalk poses itself opposite CoinForgeryDiscussionList, it's unnecessary. CFDL is useful.
This message was just posted on the CFDL by the real Lluís. The member here who has been masquerading as him and calling coins fake is, as some pointed out, an imposter. Dear all Seems that anyone using my name and using that I am CFDL was the one who made that mess in CoinTalk. Now, I undertand why I am in CoinTalk never asking to be there, why I received a mail saying me thay I was banned there, and why, despite that, I am still receiving their mails. Movitar system has been caught, the address I use here has also, checked by and add that in other group has been provided, hijacked... Then, maybe a troll is causing this mess. Sorry to all by this trouble and I hope that Cointalk would arrange this.... or at least say that I am *not* the troll With best wishes and sorry for incoveniences Lluís (to be sure that I am I,... easy: ask me to speak in catalan... )
I have been corresponding with the real Lluis by email. He is upset that he was accused of this. I am convinced that it was not the real Lluis who was causing the trouble here. Someone has been deliberately trying to stir up trouble between CFDL and Cointalk.
I’m more inclined to say that a troll has been using CFDL as nothing more than a cover to stir up trouble on Coin Talk and harass one member in particular. Both of the “CFDL members” went after the same member.
The problem is that the person(s) doing this are savvy enough in lower language to manipulate their ip address, so that it matches his(her) target's ip and the forums software figures it is the actual member. The Ancient forum has suffered from such an entity multiple times before using a similar technique. Some use ip shuffling as a way to protect their identity ( for various reasons) and are to be reported , and not discussed as that is what they really live for. Send a PM to doug and completely ignore the troll. Jim
More of us are around maybe than you think. I think most of us are still collectors from whom I can recall. Jorge Lueke is on another forum and a member of my coin club, Zach at Heritage, etc. I cut my ancient coin teeth on Moneta, and was a wonderful place to learn a ton and "meet" great people. Kind of a kinder and gentler internet before it got overall meaner.
One curious aspect to this whole incident is that he attacked two people from more or less the same region of Canada. I do not know what this means if it means anything.
If the threads are all cleaned up then it's water under the bridge... EDIT: Although I see that some of "Lluis'" posts are still on my thread...
I lost track of Jorge Lueke a while back and it would be good to hear from him - maybe pm me on this if you can help? This may not be a popular thing to say, but discussions on Yahoo groups like SAC and ICG were way more sophisticated than is much seen anywhere I know these days, (and some of those people are still there). Same is true of the few of us plodding on regarding weight standards on Yahoo. Jorge will recall why I do not put Moneta-L in that same category.
