So in January, I made a thread about my first ancient coin
Today, I finally with 99% confidence, confirmed the attribution of the coin.
    Here we are

    This coin appears to be
    Valens, AE3 of Aquileia.

DN VALEN-S PF AVG, pearl diademed, draped, cuirassed bust right.
SECVRITAS-REIPVBLICAE, Victory advancing left, holding wreath and palm.
    Left field: B.
    Mintmark SMAQP.

RIC IX Aquileia 9b, type ii(a)

    Reference, Attribution- Wildwinds.

Good job! Now you're ready to spend a little more on an ancient coin, like, say...two dollars. :p

Congrats! I bet you learned a lot during this one... I'm excited to see what you chose as your second coin.

How much would a coin like this go for?

The one above in your post would be found in a pick-bin at a coin show or your LCS with dozens of others like it. It would probably be labeled at $5 or less... the state your's above is in, sadly probably less (like $1-3) and only be interested in by new-comers to the hobby.

BUT, that being said, coins exactly like this, and the practice researching, id-ing, and generally educating oneself, are priceless to those just starting out in ancients.

OK, I'll confess, I over paid, I think it was $15 at my non-ancient coin LCS

It's all about acquiring knowledge, a little at a time, the thrill of the hunt, the history. Who hasn't overspent on a coin at one time or another?

If the first post is deleted for whatever reason, shouldn't the whole thread go?

Please, someone in on the joke tell me why this thread makes sense when it has no original post. Did the original poster delete it or did a moderator take it down? As it is, we have a string of comments about nothing. Funny?

Looks to me like @CoinBlazer is the author, right? I see his Post #1 just fine. Could he be on your Ignore list for some reason? I (accidentally) had someone on my Ignore list once and it had me scratching my head in just such a way, since I could not see that person's posts but I saw all the replies to it. Took me a while to figure that out and "unignore" that person. Might've even been you. I forget. It's been a while. I don't even know how it happened.

You should check that, because that's what it sounds like to me if you can't see Post #1 here.

I've only intentionally had one person on my Ignore list, and that only briefly.
