Its a bit too blurry for me. Can you take the close-up photo from directly overhead?

Crop out everything but the immediate area around the mintmark, and then resize the image. Finally, when you post the image, use the "Full Image" option rather than the "Thumbnail".

The part that might fool you is what you thought might be the bottom one is most likely to be a chip due to the small projecting part that the mintmark punch used to have broke off as it is just that small. Also it couldn't be one as that it would have to be a 'reversed ' S ( facing the other way ) and that can't happen, it can be upside down, sideways ( all which have occurred in coins before ) , but not reversed in normal mint production IMO. I have a '52-S/S, but they are really separated. This one does look like an RPM in the first pics, but a different variety.

I'm leaning toward die deterioration rather than an RPM.

+1 with maybe a small die chip on the top part of the S

Yea or possibly some kind of damage to that top outdide swoop of the S. When you look down at the S, it looks like the surface is disturbed.
That IS a great lookin dime tho.still can see alot of features like the strip on the torch and the bands.
