Hello all.....Im looking to buy a $500 or $1000 dollar bill. I was looking on ebay and the prices there are crazy. It doesnt have to be graded, but wheres the best place to look for either or both of these without getting ripped off. Thanks

I got one on eBay last summer and it was a good deal at the time (and a screaming deal today). I think that the market just got really hot, really quickly.

Do you have any connections with people at banks? You'd be surprised - $500 bills still show up at banks these days, every now and then. It's worth the inquiry. Other than that, just keep looking on eBay for a good deal - every now and then you can pick one off at a good price.

Amazing that someone posts that they are interested in acquiring some of these notes, and I reply that I have several extras at the moment, and I am warned and blocked. Well I guess cointalk is not for me, if such persists.

Go on 'Lets make a deal'. I watch it all the time on the Game Show Network.

Monty Hall is always giving people $500 and $1000 bills.

Yes, I know it was filmed in the late 60s and early 70s. I figured it out when they gave out 1972 model year cars and the contestants seemed happy.

I would say most are liucky to get 1 or 2 out of a box of 500 most times

Before you dive off into the deep end of the pool, I would study a bit about what you are seeking.
Not getting ripped off? If you feel this way then buy a book or two and get some knowledge before you tread into water deeper than the water survival pool at boot camp!
These notes are highly collectable and a modest XF will run you 1200.00...but what the hey, go for the CHCU's at 2900 to 3600 if you really want a collectors note!

    Good luck from another Jarhead!
