I doubt our OPer will become a long-term CT member; crap, we just rained on his parade. And I need some time to recover from the dizziness I'm feeling after looking at those photos.

And I was hoping it was educational. How many OPs that post here get such a nice explanation of the reasoning why their rarity isn't a rarity or an error? It is always good to understand both the coins you think you have and the minting process.

And you @Kasia deserve kudos for taking the time to post that. Perhaps you can find a way to save your answer on your phone/computer so you can reinsert it in the future. I think there will be a need for answer more and more.

Maybe I should just write a post about it.

@Keith Iwan Oldin bowles If I write an article/post about the minting process that could use a couple illustrations, can I use a couple of your photos? No reference negatively to you in that post as you have great pics of too much magnification and that is always valuable to see and the point would be to help people learn.

Keith's Goosebumps exploded into rage bumps when he was proved wrong.
I think he is gone for good.

Well, I don't wish it. New people make a lot of pre-judgements and think they've scored big right out of the gate but they don't know how much they don't know. They see things that are not real and want to call it valuable. Most people don't know how stupid I was for quite a few years saving coins I thought were valuable and only recently spending them as I finally looked at them several times over the years and could say for sure they were junk and spendable. I finally after many years started applying the necessary reasoning behind determining each type of situation. Now I have very few coins from then because 99.999% were junk. I just kept most of it to myself as I did not want to get critiqued and have my feelings hurt. But I read other's posts and started paying attention to others answers and then researching.

Half the time I post something I am feeling I'm opening up myself to being trashed for writing something some better and more experienced person will come on about and expose how unknowledgeable I am. But if they do, then I have to realize it is not because they want to call me stupid. Basically residual childish fears.

Being proved wrong can be hurtful at times but that's life. And everyone basically has their own definition of what is hurtful in something like this. But nothing I said was designed to drive someone away from here. Many people on here came on here kind of sensitive, but then stayed and grew and stopped being so sensitive. Sometimes being sensitive is only giving into feeling like everyone knows how 'stupid' someone thinks you are when that's an illusion. Were here for coins and not to drive people away. We just don't treat people with kid gloves.

If those pictures are "clear" then I must be drinking the wood grained stuff. I'm still looking for the elusive image my toasted cheese sandwich.

Just thinking about it.. A 1943 Copper Cent placed into the striking chamber so it will strike over it as a 1982 exactly in the correct spot where the date is.. :banghead:

    Mind numbing.. Because it's ludicrous!

But the OP really, really, really, really, really wants to be right.
Because, 'ya know, they want to because they are so totally involved in correlating what they see into a discovery they've biased themselves so much that they can't see reality.

Don’t worry about getting trashed for a wrong answer. Most of the regular members know who takes the time to help new collectors. They’ll have your back if you’re genuinely trying to be helpful and make a mistake.

My apologies to the OP, however when I first saw the photos, I was immediately reminded of Father Guido Sarducci’s ‘Find-the-Pope-in-the-Pizza’ contest.

The thing is that Keith was treated fairly right from the start, he just didn't want to open his eyes to see it. Your post was informative, it's that in this age of error collecting, most don't want the truth they want to think that they are right.

Boob tube and a few other sites award the option of being ignorant to the truth. Folks that just want a pat on the back will leave and never return.
