So, most of you know I’m still on coin probation. However, my wife said I’m allowed to use my eBay bucks to buy a coin. I’ve got about $100. Any recommendations? I like US type coins, error coins, medieval coins, and anything with a neat piece of history. I’ll take any and all recommendations!

    EDIT: I have $103.75. I can't go a penny over!

LOL, not at you but with you. I showed your post to my wife. She's got me on probation, too, but I did talk her into allowing me to purchase three Norwegian coins in the past month and some German hyper-inflation notes from 1923.

Good luck, @Seattlite86 in your search to use that Benjamin somewhere that will give you pleasure/satisfaction.

How about a pretty little coin from Frankfurt in remembrance of your stay in Germany, and the fact you like City Views?
(it's more than you plan, but you can alway negotiate, I am sure).

Otherwise, the other Frankfurt minors are also very nice.
All of them are encapsulated as I assume that is your preference.

I'll continue looking, this time for medieval:)

Take a look at what you enjoy on the bay. Don't confine yourself to one area or to a hundred dollars. If you went over a little you may get a short reprieve. You may also find that special coin that's calling your name.

Thanks for the support! PM me if you have specific notes you'd like me to stop by the local coin shop and dig through. They had a bunch in a stack the last time I was there.

Looking these over now! It's nice being able to shop both ebay.com and ebay.de :) I'll have to check ebay.de too.

Also, it has to be about $100, like $105 MAX. I can't go a penny over. :(

Thanks for the thoughts, but my wife and I have a strong relationship built on trust. We had an agreement and I will honor it until she says I do not have to. I wouldn't even be looking at coins if she didn't say I could spend this $100.

I didn't mean to be dishonest, I simply meant you may find a coin at $125.00 and then discuss with her. Maybe she'll give you the okay for the extra. :)

I’m completely ignorant of ancient coins. I have very few, mostly with Jesus Christ on them. If you have any recommendations, feel free to send me a link and I’ll take a look. Otherwise, I wouldn’t know how to differentiate real vs fakes...

She might, but I’d feel wrong just the same. It’s by sticking to our agreement that she does things like let me buy something with the eBay bucks. So... I’ll have to go for $103.75 or less.

Overheard this morning near the Res; woman sees her friend walking with a six pack of Tecate.
Girl 1 - "Hey, watcha doin'?"
Girl with beer - "Oh, just got a 6 pack of beers for my husband"
Girl 1 - "Hey, you think they'd give me as much for Norman?"

Stick to your guns, Seattlite, or she could just trade you in for some suds!

Why not a Roman denarius, but not just of any emperor.

Marcus Aurelius, the Philosopher-Emperor, one of the so-called 5 Good Emperors. You may have seen him in the movie 'Gladiator'. Some of his writing have survived the centuries and are worth reading.

He was forced to wage war against Germanic tribes along what is now Southern Germany, and Austria. However, he would have much rather
spent his time in his writings.

Here is a fairly nice one, for exactly your sum.

Thanks. I’m sure you’re being funny/sarcastic, but I find the advice rather poor. My wife’s trust in me isn’t worth any coin you could show me.
