Ours is clean. Came today. Maybe it’s a first strike/early issue thing? The 2019 S penny in the proof set was also pristine.
I'm glad for you! Wonder what caused the splotches? Maybe they'll call mine an error penny in 10 years, ha, ha.
I received a bad one today and contacted the mint and they said they won't replace it because it was a "free coin", they know it's the worst coin they've produced in years and won't spend the addition 1.4 cents a piece to make new ones a send them out to make us happy
I've tried , I even told them I would cancel my other orders and they keep saying it's a free coin and won't replace it !
Well, I guess we live and learn, right? You did well just notifying them. I just don't have the energy to fight anymore. Was your penny splotched on the open spaces at 10 and 2 o'clock?
Yes , 10 and 2 would be correct and definitely not proof like which is why I keep telling them to replace it and they say it's free and won't do it , I've told them it doesn't matter if it's free because it's not a proof like coin which they advertise on the United States Mint site and since it's not it needs replaced . I'm not done fighting with them over this problem
Good for you! If enough people complain, they may do something. But they are the government!!! I love ypur logic. They did not deliver the product. They should replace it. I'll bet the sales will fall for the next two w coins.
Sales are falling now , last week there total year to date sales of the 2019 Mint Set with the West Point Proof Lincoln Cent was 270,831 and this week there total year to date sales are 269,817 for a loss of 1,014 Proof Sets , looks like I'm not the only one that's unhappy and sending sets back for a refund , I wish I would have looked at my coins the day they were delivered so I could have sent mine back within 7 days
Received mine today. Straight out of the box with the same toning spots at 10 and 2..... And one more nice surprise. The mint sealed a hunk of cardboard in with my proof quarter.
Had a chance to look through several W proofs at the MSNS Convention this weekend so I could pick out a unmarked one. Paid for the privilege though. The clean one will go into my Lincoln set, the others I have will eventually find new homes.
