Looks like your Nickel was struck on a worn die. The deterioration caused that affect around the Mint Mark. That's what you see when you magniy your coin too much.
The faint area of the "E" in "WE" may at least partly be caused by grease covering the place on the die that should have made contact with the planchette at the place on the coin where the "E" looks weak; and, maybe it is also the result of wear.
