That's why I remain happy at staying 'dumb'. No worries. No offences. No infractions. No bannings. But hats off to the 'sods' who challenge things. Well within parameters, mind you.....
You wouldn’t be too pleased either if you got called “a swine.” Maybe he shouldn’t have taken the bait but the troll should have gone out the door with him.
I didn't see the post. I guess Kurt just got caught up in the frenzy........sticks and stones, but I can understand his consternation......
He went on the radio the next day and gave CoinTalk a shout out as the best online coin forum. Still, I’d be surprised to see him back. He sort of made sure of it on his way out.
Well that sucks, but can't say I'm surprised. If anything, I am surprised it took that long until something like this happened. I didn't have a very positive opinion of the guy when he first came around, but eventually got a sense of the sarcasm and humor that is often lost when not speaking in person. He grew on me and eventually became someone I'd love to grab a couple drinks with and pick their brain on some things. Sorry if this sounds like an obituary, but I'm genuinely sad that he is no longer on this forum. Added a lot of insight and color.
Well, had you read that other topic about him before starting yours, you would know that this is not very likely. Don't think there are many scenarios that would actually justify a "life time ban". But letting somebody back in again would require (a) that person's willingness to come back and (b) some kind of clarifying communication. No idea whether any of this applies here. Christian
Color? I remember he wrote something along the lines of “all toning is evil” and “silver coins should be blazing white”
Well it's obvious someone wanted him gone and unfortunately for him he took the bait and swallowed the hook.
You have absolutely no room to talk. Did you forget the name you called me? You are quite the hypocrite!
If members got banned just for name-calling there wouldn’t be anybody left but the moderators. Kurt had a hard head. I know that because I’ve got the lumps from having bumped up against it on quite a few occasions. That said, I think we were lucky to have him here, and I’ll miss him.
Borrowed from @juris klavins I saw this and instantly thought of Bellman as he is a huge nickel geek. This would drive him crazy. I’m gonna miss his snarky opinionated posts. CT lost a huge information source by banning him for life. I for one will miss the guy and would vote in a minute to let him back regardless of what was said. This is just a coin website for goodness sakes not baseball, life time ban sheesh. Reed
Kurt was a huge reservoir of coin knowledge. I spent several hours one day back with him and his son. It was thoroughly enjoyable.
If this is true it’s just another wholly unnecessary and self-defeating black eye on this forum. They had no problem banning someone who called Detecto out for making many thousands of dollars in gold purchases on eBay at the same time he was incessantly whining about being broke and not-so-slyly trying to convince folks to “help” him, assumably considering it an excessive personal attack, so why should this be any different? At least the aforementioned was true. There are more than enough lemmings today, including on this very forum; Kurt wasn’t one, and even if he pushed at times, he gave this forum much more than he received from it. A half dozen or so more Kurts and this place might become interesting again.
