Thought I would share this little rarity with ya, its an 1817 Bust Half Single Leaf O-106a R4.

Not the highest grade single leaf I've ever seen, but still fun none the less.......Keep looking for the Busties.

I really like the toning of your coin. Nice example!

What is that idented strike (looks similar to a squared letter "R") at the bottom of Miss Liberty's bust between her' drapery and hair and which is above the "81" of the Date? Is it a Strike Thru Error, damaged Die Error or Post-Mint damage? I have never seen this on any other Bust Halfs!

    Looks like post-mint damage.

    Ben,

I was leaning towards the same assumption! However, if Post-Mint damage, how could a random strike (with whatever) curl so perfectly around the curl in Miss Liberty's hair?

Frank, this is what (the area) you're referring to correct???

Somewhat! However, I mean pretty much the whole area around the curl to the base of Miss Liberty's bust. I have included two pictures of the area and hope that you can see what I mean!

Not sure what could have caused it, but CBHs are large coins and were subject to plenty of bag-marks over the past 170-200+ years.
