Some consignors set the price, regardless of the advice from GC. They paid more than the market will bear right now, but still hope to come out ahead or even. They end up having to pay a listing fee, then either try again, or put their tails between their legs and leave.
Closed almost 20% back of Numismedia FMV, even with buyer premium. Is that within the normal range for an RB cent with "muddled toning", or did someone get a bargain?
GC is top notch. They pulled this misattributed PCGS coin once I notified them. See photo. Somehow, a so called dealer James Sego lists it on Ebay. I let him know it was a misattribution and he was a jack wagon from there on out. Run the cert verification now, and see what the coin really is. Then scroll down and see auction result. He refused to pull it, PCGS bought it. Not sure of the rest. Know your dealer.
He did do the right thing at his own risk, however, on another deal. He bought some stolen coins from a coin show thief and when he found out, turned them over and provided helpful info to help the investigation. I think most people were made right in the end. But hats off to him for that, anyway.
