    It looks to be a corrosion spot that has been cleaned off/out and left just the pitted surface on the coin. What does the reverse look like?

    Reminds me of a coin that was stuck in the bottom of a Cup Holder that had soda spilled in it, and someone washed the coin because it was sticky.
