Trying again....please let me know thoughts...if you can & its not double die let me know what you see that helps you know that Thanks again all
Your images are too blurry. It's possible that you've taken the photo from too close to allow the camera to focus properly. Chris
Hi Imho, We can only see half of the coin. To give the experts a proper evaluation of your coin. It is best to have a full size photo of both sides of the coin and the area of interest. As well as a detailed description. Thank you
Sorry, rabbit, but we don't have to see the whole coin. The OP didn't ask us to grade it. Why would we have to see full images for the purpose of determining if there is doubling or not. CC, by backing away, you can now see that there is no doubling. I see this too often. Your camera was so close that it couldn't focus properly. Chris
Thanks everyone! I found this online (can't remember where to give credit). I think it helps machine doubling make more sense to me.... The thing that I'm still struggling with most I think is when I see a line in a letter of a coin (like the top of the B above) because then it looks the same height & while I usually assume it's not doubling (because I'm not really expecting i'm going to find so many or even 1 of such an uncommon thing) ... I just don't know with those how to tell it's not ... I did mess with the camera a little & I saw clearly with another coin how the focus wavered and looked like doubling from certain angles only, but couldnt see the same with this one
Can most double die coins be seen at every angle? I think maybe looking at coins w/ my magnifying camera w/ light cell phone app is hurting rather than helping me... Certain angles I see what i think is doubling....even when I reduce the zoom...
Hi I thought about your question and meant to get back to you a little sooner. This picture here is a great example of double die. When you can see a complete shifting of letters numbers. Where it looks like two separate near identical numerals or letters. As for looking at a coin. Best to use rubber gloves to handle your collection. I find that taking a picture can help me evaluate it again. Sometimes our eyes can play tricks on us when looking for a long time through a magnifying glass or scope. Let your eyes re adjust. Do something else to Take your mind off coins then come back and have a better look. Imho, this helps me reevaluate my own coins.
It's doubled die, not double die. There is a big difference. Please use the correct terminology. Thank you.
