And HERE is another killer silver deal 266 Eisenhower's the bid is only at $300 but the melt value alone is around $1,700 http://cgi.ebay.com/1923-S-peace-dollar-silver_W0QQitemZ170200839429QQihZ007QQcategoryZ11980QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/1989-O-morgan-Silver-Dollar-Very-Good-Plus_W0QQitemZ290213518713QQihZ019QQcategoryZ39465QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/1921-Morgan-Silver-Dollar_W0QQitemZ150224110071QQihZ005QQcategoryZ39466QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/1923-S-MINT-PEACE-LIGHTLY-CIRCULATED-SILVER-DOLLAR_W0QQitemZ300206047814QQihZ020QQcategoryZ11980QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/1922-P-MINT-PEACE-LIGHTLY-CIRCULATED-SILVER-DOLLAR_W0QQitemZ300206049359QQihZ020QQcategoryZ11980QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Okay - I will ask, Why do you keep saying melt value for Eisenhower dollars? I do not see anything mentioning silver clad - according to the red book 1976D were all copper clad. So what I am missing, cause I do not see any value to buying any of the eisenhower dollars.
jmc, Eisenhowers go for about $1.20 in bulk. And that's only for people who are looking for them. Thanks for trying to share the information and I think we appreciate it, but a lot of your links are for auctions that have days before they end. Don't worry!!! All those coins will get bids and sell for at least melt! I've sold about a dozen silver coin lots in the last week. I do 1 day auctions and start at 0.99 and so far, I haven't sold anything for less than "melt".
Read This ASAP!!!! I hate to be bearer of bad news for you but the Eisenhower dollars you are selling have "no" silver in them. Them are all copper clad. The only Ike's with 40% silver are the "brown" proofs (71-74), the "blue" Uncirculated (71-74), and the Bicentennial silver Uncirculated and Proof (3 coin sets). If you can see any copper on the edge of the coin it is not silver or rather it has no silver in it. Check your Red Book and if you don't have one, you should. Good luck with your sales. Allen
I normally wouldn't bother flogging a dead horse, but I also don't want someone to actually bid on these based on the OP. Here is what the auction says: Description: 100 pieces - 1976-D 1 piece - 1976-S 15 pieces - 1976 (No Mint mark) 116 pieces Total My friend, there is no silver 1976-D Ike nor are there any silver 1976 (no mint mark). The only POSSIBLE silver coin would be the single 1976-S. But there are non-silver ones too. So out of 116 coins, ONE may be silver. Please, no one bid on this. EDIT: Oops, Walter beat me to it!
sorry too list this, I am not the seller of these, i just thought that all ikes from 71-76 were 40% therefore thought it was a good deal. please disregard those two listings. I guess I jumped the gun. :/ *walks away feeling foolish*
JMC, That's how we all learn. At least you are looking and thinking. Don't quit looking and don't quit thinking. You just need to educate yourself. Learn how to read the Red Book and understand what the facts mean as well as what they don't mean. (And, like Allen said, if you don't have a Red Book you should get one.)
jmc, In your defense, I'll also say that a lot, lot, lot of people know little about the Ikes, Kennedys, Sacs, SBAs. They might be able to run circles around you when it comes to Morgans or half-dimes, but know little of these coins. That's what makes them fun to collect - there's still a lot of varieties out in the wild - at least for Ikes and Kennedys.....
