Sounds like me good at buying. I guess thats why I'm a collector just a question. The loss whatcaused it did you pay to muchfor the coins?
After much retroflection, I probably paid more than I should have. I felt at the time that the coins I was purchasing were below list, but I later found out that I could get them for even less. The other thing was that I tried doing this over the summer. I thought this would be a great time to sell on ebay, but I found the opposite. I have sold many coins on ebay before and found that I tend to have better results during the school year. Sort of makes sense if you have kids and think about it... I don't have kids, so I didn't think about it. I still sell coins on ebay, but only when I get duplicate coins or sets from upgrading my coins.
i am much more interested in the coin itself rather than whatever it may be packaged in. from tpg slabs to cardboard 2x2's are ok w/ me. would like to have at least one simply for its historical perspective but i seem to notice i will have to pay a premium simply because of the market for these. it is on the acquire list but other morgans have been taking precedence. things would be much simpler if i just had more money!!!!!!! so at 40 morgans in my current set, i'll try to get one or two in the next approx 10 yrs it will take to finish the set.....
In the end, you are right. The gentleman that I bought the GSA boxes off of said, "you are getting at least a MS60 coin", but I couldn't forget the comments that GDJMSP said about some Circ coins getting mixed in. Fortunately, these Morgans were all UNC. All of them had some bag marks on them, but nothing unusual for a lower grade UNC coin. The only one that I had concern about was the 82cc that had a distracting bag mark across the face. Some may not think much of it, but I noticed it right away. I bought it anyway because I knew the guy who was selling them and could trust him. I know how well he took care of the coins and boxes and that meant a lot to me. But in the end, you have to be happy with the coin itself, because this is why you are buying these in the first place.
