I got a flyer in the mail advertising Spanish eight real coins (pieces of 8) at a good price but I know nothing of this company. Anyone know anything of them? I am worried the coin delivered will not be in the condition promised.

My rule of thumb is never buy a coin from anyplace with the word 'mint' in it. Occasionally I make an exception for the US Mint, but not too often.

Well said. And I would add to that - I have rarely seen a good (or even fair) deal via radio ads, TV ads, or magazine/newspaper ads. Ditto for solicitations by phone or email.

I second that, just on general principles. The use of the word "mint" is clearly intended to be deceptive; to fool people into thinking that the vendor is somehow affiliated with the US Mint. That tells me a lot about their mentality. Kind of like the word "estate" in ebay auctions. It should be a red flag saying "Stay away!"

I will be the third to support this comment. Anything other than U.S. Mint (and I rarely buy from them) comes in a package and should be eaten.

Don't trust something as heavily faked as a Spanish 8 reales to a company you aren't 100% sure about. If you are looking for such coins, check out the numismatic resources section of CT.
