Found these 49 nickels in the Whitman for $4 which averages out to about 8 cents each including the folder which is in excellent condition. Nothing really to note so far and the grades are not great but it will be fun to go through and look at each coin. One war nickel to boot!
One of two DDO-001's that I've found recently going through some mint sets. They're both in really good shape.
Picked this up from my LCS and perfect opp for my newest pickup the Nikon B500. So cool can pick up the dies cracks and lamination on the reverse. Unfortunately the scratch on the obverse stands out (as it should). Still learning the nuances of this equipment (such as the white balance) but already noticeable difference in details...
Just playing around with the new camera and getting the white balance figured out a bit on this xf clipped Jeff.
So I've been having some fun with a old proof set of my dad's. After he passed I just through it in a drawer where it sat for 30 years. Took it out a few months back and found some pretty special things in it, including a No S 1971 nickel. Had it graded by PCGS (picks below) and yes, I must be living right. Thought I'd share it here. Only about 20 graded higher. View attachment 908503
Nice multi colored toning. And yep that is a lamination peel at about 7:00. Should I try to press it back down or leave it? I don't think it will fit into a direct fit airtite as it is...
Saw a funny couple tonight on eBay while looking at war nickels. One listing advertised “partial steps.” The other said “with steps.” Neither slab listed full steps. Something comes to mind about “trying to make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear.” Or maybe the sellers are hoping for low reading comprehension.
