I've got to get back to work but wanted to drop a quick note. You won't believe what I recieved at our local BK for a dime this afternoon. I'll add some pics of the reverse tonight after work. All I can say is that my head started spinning and I almost threw up when I looked at my change. I did go back and ask if they had anymore strange coins but there were none. Back Later with the rest of the story. http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg190/wledswift/3cent.jpg
Your find gets me excited!!!! Today is my girlfriends first day at her new job, at Burger King, working the register. And as much as she gets sick of seeing coins and hearing me talk about coins, she really has learned whats what. Ive taught her well, now lets see what she finds. LOL
It's not a dime. It is a Three Cent Pieces. Nickel. Check the back and look for the Numeral III on the back with a Wreath around it. Nice find.:kewl: Value is 20-35 $ depinding on the grade. Not bad for a burger!!!!! Rhubarb
I think the OP knows it is not a dime. The cashier obviously didn't know it was not a dime or she would not have handed it out in change as a dime.
Perhap's so. For the new coin collectors, they don't know what it is. I think it's a cool find for everyone to see. Rhubarb
I have looked at all my change since 1964. The oldest coin I have ever received in change was a 1910 Lincoln cent (and that was sometime in the '60s). I have never received in change: Indian Head cent, V nickel, Barber Anything, Seated Liberty Anything, Silver Dollar, any obsolete denomination (2 cent, 3 cent, 20 cent, etc.) or any gold coin. But I keep looking!
In 2006 I got only the second Buffalo nickel in change I have gotten. I did get a 1910 in a roll search last year, my earliest. So far this year my earliest is a '16D, but also a 1917, two 1918's and a 1918D. I have searched seven boxes, ie 27500 cents so far this year.
