Your image is too small. Try cropping out all of the unnecessary background and resizing the image before using the "Full Image" option to post it.

By the way, "War Nickels" are 35% silver with a large mintmark (P, D or S) above the dome of Monticello and were issued 1942-1945.

Not a war nickel. Nothing unusual for a coin that has circulated for 78 years.

    Welcome to CT.

all looks like general circulation wear and tear. Actually not much considering it's 78 years old.

    A little.

I bought an almost complete collection of Jefferson Nickels from '38 thru '61 recently, lacking only a '44S, '50D and '51S for $20.50, which is an average of 33¢ per coin. IMO only the '42P will require replacing since it is the only one below average for a circulated coin of its age.

I also bought a half roll of lightly mixed AU and higher graded Nickels for $12.50. It is predominately '46 and '56 coins, but a few others from the period in between. That's an average of 62.5¢ per coin and I perceived that to be an acceptable purchase, given their condition.

Please be careful not to violate the CT rules concerning Buy/Sell/Trade transactions. You may want to review them in the B/S/T forums.

I was thinking on the right side it was not fully extended.. the U seemed shorter then most.. when u say it took a hit.. does that mean someone damaged it or when it was being made it was an error.? N thank you for your opinion

The left side of the U looks damaged. Edit: not an error.

I don't think I break the rules, Chris, but I am flagrant in such threads as this this one to offer to GIVE the poster a coin if I have an extra. All he/she needs to do is contact me. In a roundabout way, I was letting others know that I have a rather large number of beautiful '46 and '56 Jeffersons, but I had no interest in creating a special thread where I was going to sell or trade them. I'm too old and physically impaired to go to the USPS to mail them.

My comment wasn't directed toward you. It was intended for Lisa who has only been here a few days, and I was merely cautioning her to let her know that we do have rules for Trades just as we do for buying and selling.

    Have a great day!
