I agree with this as well. It's obviously altered (and not worth much) but it could be a cool conversation piece. The OP can walk up to someone and tell them about traveling back to the future!
For how many decades have we known that: the dollar coin will never take off unless the paper dollar is eliminated. (I also agree: the 1/2-dollar coin is a waste, but as a collector I also cringe...)
That's very true. Unfortunately it's more likely that we'll see a total elimination of cash and coins instead of basic reform (like replacing the paper dollar with a dollar coin).
OK, Dr Google says that we made 7.8 billion lincoln cents last year, and that it cost on average 1.8 cents to produce and distribute each one. So . . . that's a net loss of $62 million. No biggie, I suppose. Although, as they say: $62 million here, $62 million there, eventually it adds up to real money.
