Original post was removed. Not sure why. I noticed some dark build-up in some of the finer spaces. Could that be removed with acetone or ? Did my best on the picture, not the greatest. But will have very nice images from grading.
Nice coin. I’m afraid the darker spots likely won’t get better with acetone. Unfortunately, these coins are rather common and you’re likely not going to get much for it.
Better look again Brandon....1931 5 centavos in MS is a $4K coin.... that's 4 large! @Seattlite86 I'm at high vf - xf about a 1200/1400$ coin
I wouldn't mind that. You know I submitted this coin and other 5 centavos to Heritage Auctions and I was told I didn't meet the $5000.00 min. I told them I had many more coins, but they said ebay would be a better fit. I thought they would have liked to have this coin in their auction.
I've never deal with Heritage so I can't answer to your statement. But I do know that I've seen coins alot less sell there. You need it graded and from there you figure your next move.
This is a bronze coin. Acetone will work better on silver. Some say not to use it on copper at all. Some say it doesn't matter. Very rare coin. Counterfeits are popping up with this date. https://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide...os-km-422-1914-1935-cuid-1116367-duid-1418291
Verdicare it it will remove the green as well bring back some luster. I've used it a small drop on one surface rub it between my fingers and blot it with a ultra fiber cloth. Air dry a few days before housing it....That is the route I would take.
Thank you Paddy. And my apologies to @RandalGibbons foe the poor advice. I did not pay attention to the year, just the coin type.
Hey we all miss sometimes...however we learn more from our mistakes then triumphs! And knowing you personally you'll do your homework next time... I bet the house on that....
@RandalGibbons you can find verdicare at Wizard coin supplies. That will be your best bet under $20 to fix and remove the green spots on your copper coins. There's a member here @BadThad who can and will give you far more information on this Subject. He is the inventor of Verdi care product ,and better versed than I
You're absolutely right. I was rushing and should've just not said anything vs give bad advice. I'm grateful you guys caught it quickly. I'll do better next time.
No apologies necessary. I was about to reply to your post, then I thought it would be better if you received a response from a family member.
Thank you for your help. In fact I would like to thank all of you for being so generous with your time and hard earned experience. You have made this newbie feel welcome. My hat's off to you all. FYI the little horses are healthy and doing well.
What a breath of fresh air! So far this week we had two total jerks who joined the forum asked a question and them dumped on members here who tried their best to help them! One using language that an old Irishman like my self would never use. You're very welcome and thank you ....as it nice for a change to be appreciated for just trying to help. You can tag my name as seen above @Paddy54 if you need any other assistance.
The mods removed his first thread and those comments were lost, including my own "nugget of wisdom". The OP mentions that in his first post above. My email alerts were taking me to a blank page where I "have no privileges". With no way of knowing it had been moved , I started a thread asking about Why don't mods tell us when and why a thread has been removed. As usual with threads I start, I included a Poll with the usual 4 possible answers. At last check, it was running 3 to 1 in favor of mods giving us some kind of reason why a thread is closed. Luckily, a Poll taker was kind enough to alert me to the move. I'm thinking his first thread was removed because he mentioned coins for sale in the wrong forum....but who really knows.
