    I came across this 2005 D nickel. It reads “ Ocean in view! Q ! The joy!
    Die chip on the O.
    It also looks like double on the 5 in 1805 and a few of the letters. Possible Die deterioration?

    It looks like a small ding on the "O", not a die chip. I don't see any doubling.

    Lol, your funny, I like you:)
    Clearly the die chip is much bigger than what you could carve out of the “ O “.
    It’s almost a straight line ontop of the O. If you like a better angle I can take another pic.
    @Conder101 what do you think?@paddyman98 ?

    . At press speed of two strikes per second, anything can happen.

    There is always a possibility of human error.

    Whoa now, rabbit!:stop: You should give me a little more credit than that. My skin is a bit thicker than some of the folks around here.:hilarious: No offense taken!;)

    On the contrary, I enlarged your photo of the reverse by clicking on it, and even though it is slightly blurred, the mark at the base of the "O" appears to be recessed with a slight amount of coin metal pushed up along the bottom edge. To me, this suggests that it was caused by a light hit from another object, probably the edge of another coin, after it was minted.

    I agree 100% with Chris. You can see a snall but clear hit at 9:00 on the O. It goes from left to right in a downward motion, making the displaced metal appear to be a Q. It took a hit so it's damaged.

    Still a keeper for me. I like the way it says “Q! The joy!
