1955 us cent ddo?

At first I was thinking maybe this could possibly be a DDO #6 but then it started to look more like number #4, but the more I look the less confident I am in my eyes alone, could be 5, or crap is very possible. Can I get some assistance? View attachment 910327

DDO # one looks like that, there are 10 varieties.

 

Right,I've seen that before. Picture one is my coin and the last picture is the Die deterioration example. Note the double throughout the date, the extra length on the hooks of the fives and top horizontal bars of fives. Not to say some deterioration istn apparent as well but the two photos are clearly different. The three pictures between mine and yours are examples of actual ddo#4. Not saying I'm right or you're wrong,

Your comparison photos are of a proof, big guy.

As for the Amazon screenshots and just as a general suggestion, try to go easy on the photos. Whatever point you had is lost on me.

You're right twice over. Variety Vista's 1955 DDO's numbers 4-9 are all Proof coins. Only #s 1-3 and 10 are Business Strikes and clearly the OPs Business Strike coin matches none of those.

 

So... Crap then? Not being marked with an S threw me off there, forgot that was befirball proof coinsewere minted as S. F.

 

Don't worry about it; Dr. Wiles doesn't separate the Proofs from the Business Strikes other than with the "PR" designation (though admittedly, you can generally tell the differences in the strike by the appearance of the coin). In the heat of the moment, especially when you really feel you're on to something, it's easy to overlook some of these nuances.

Die stage and wear can affect double dies as well as non doubled dies, so one has to evaluate those on the appearance of the coin and work back in your mind as to what it originally looked like ( 1936 DDOs) are good examples as that years was worn hard!!. Many sites just show the state closest to Early die as it will be most defined. Jim
