Let the opinions fly. AT or NT? The darker areas on the scan are actually a darker blue. http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x275/clembo1872/scan0006-2.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x275/clembo1872/scan0007-2.jpg clembo
hmmm, hard to say. I'm no expert. It looks to me like its been exposed to some harsh environmental elements, maybe high heat. Again, I'm sure you know I'm no expert, hehehe, but although I like the coin, it doesn't look %100 natural to me.
Yummy ! Natural Toning ! She was laying with some other coins against her in a desk drawer, I'd guess. It looks like a date from another coin imprinted in reverse, in the toning, just below and to the left of her ear. Look at it with a loupe and see if you can figure out what it is.
First off, I am not an expert in these matters. However, in my humble opinion I believe this coin to be natural toned.
I thought NT... ... until I took a look at the reverse rim at 5 o'clock. Those colors look freakier than a tie-die T-shirt at a Jerry Garcia acid test. AT.
Is the reverse glare from the light? If so I would go with NT based off the obverse. Otherwise I would say AT.
I would say natural. Hold the coin at an angel. If the colors don't fade into a dark haze then its a pretty good sign that it is natural.
I would have to say NT.Coins can develop some very interesting colors depending on the way they are stored. Lou
27 minutes in a 500º oven hell I dont know, Ive had album toned coins from my dad's 40 yr old safe deposit box BBed for AT and Ive seen obvious sulfer toned coins in NGC slabs. I dont think the "experts" can tell either.
I'm guessing AT... I have some "experiments" developing the same colour and toning pattern only after a month or two into my magic toning box. But then again, how long does an AT have to go on, before it's considered a NT?
