Alright, so I got this from one of the members of our NGC piggyback and he's submitting this for grading as a Dropped Letter error which can be seen under the word SILVER on the reverse. Upon editing the pictures, it also looks like there's something below the date as well. Any ideas on this one? I'll post the results in a month when they're done grading at NGC
I'm not seeing a dropped element issue. The issue under the date could be something but nothing major. I will try to get the info. Not worth submitting IMHO
minted by the US mint and has a face value of one dollar.... not sure how it's not a US coin. I personally have no idea. I don't know anything about errors. I just asked if I could post pictures and get opinions. He mentioned the drop letter under the S, and when I was editing the pictures I seen the anomaly on the obverse as well.
We did have some 2019 ASE buyers have a collar clash of some sorts a while back. It was posted here on CT and I think for 2019s so should be somewhat recent.
Did you pay for the Mint Error Attribution? They might not call it an error.. First, if you don't pay the attribution fee then they will only grade. Second, it's not an error IMHO
All US Mint Bullion coins that have a Denomination on them, even the gold commemoratives and such, can be used as legal tender. That is assuming the receiver recognizes it as such. Kinda like the $2 bill troubles. Silver "Rounds" from 3rd party vendors, as just silver rounds and cannot be used as legal US tender. That stuff usually goes contrary to your "stackers" theories and arguments.
Ok.. Please do get back to us or I will hassle you then! I have been waiting 2 months for a 6 coin submission I did Mid January! With NGC
@BigTee44 I agree with Mr. P. It is not an error. Also, it can't be a dropped element because the font appears to be a different size than that used on the reverse. Chris
I’ve got some good close up pictures of the ASE that I took before we sent it to you. Can I text them to you? Thanks, Stan
I have to admit though, in my latest purchases of ASEs (2018 and 2019), I have noticed some mint defects and bad quality control. I've posted a thread on mis-shapen 2018 ASEs that I got. It was amazing to see how bad they were, brand new with today's technology!
Here’s a picture I took of it before we sent it off to you. I think it is the bottom of a D or possibly an S from the obverse.
I must say my first view of the reverse was a die chip, metal shavinge...not a dropped letter. The last image has me wondering if it isn't the bottom of the D? Time will tell
Yes, it could be the "D" from UNITED. It is definitely not an "S" which was my original thought. Chris
