    Other than the obvious silver (90% & 40%) Kennedy's, Franklin's & Walking Liberty's, what Kennedy's do you save?

    I know about the:
    '74D DDO
    1776-1976 S 40% silver

What else in this type does everyone save? It seems I'm checking roll after roll and not really coming up with anything.

    Thnx for your guidance...

Yes, those are the silver ones.

But, I posted some time ago asking for advice if people thought searching was worth it. I just don't think it is. Maybe if we had gotten into this before 2008/9 during the recession and the youtube era we could have found something.

I think too many people have already searched at this point. So, it's just not worth the trouble.

I'm beginning to come to the same conclusion.

My initial thoughts were that half dollars are sooo much less common in circulation that good results would likely be easier to find.

That's a very smart thought you had. Unfortunately, lots of people have had that same thought!

I'm getting a bit sick of getting skunked, too... I don't even have a really good reason to hunt halves. I don't even collect circulated coins much! But, I'm kinda addicted to the hunt... nothing like unwrapping a roll with an unmistakeable 90% silver edge.
I've only been doing that about a year, and can count the boxes on one hand that had silver. My personal best was 16 silvers in a box. Also got 2 Benjis, 2 Walkers one time. The best thing about it is I save multiples of 500$ to move around. The worst is I have to go outta town to get my boxes; 3hour round trip. Nuts. Maybe I'll start again when I move somewhere boxes are easy to get.

I pick up a 5-10 rolls of Halves every week and all I find every once in a while is a 40% silver Kennedy half. But it's fun looking. Usually I keep a roll and spend it at different places. Some cashiers look at it, then look at me, back and forth a few times until I have to tell them it's a 50 cent piece. That's fun also.

I stopped searching boxes of halves about 2008, and when silver skyrocketed to almost $50 in 2011, I sold all of my rolls of junk silver.

You have to do a large volume of MWR rolls to find significant amounts of silver halves. I do 4-5 Loomis boxes each week (sometimes 6-7 if I am lucky). My silver half coin count this year: Jan = 265, Feb = 44, Mar = ~80 so far. You can get lucky with CWRs and get full rolls of silver but they are very rare and you have to “be at the right place at the right time”. This has only happened to me twice. In addition to the 1974-D DDO, I look for the 1972-D & 1982-P “no FG”. I also keep high quality 2002+ NIFCS for duplicate coin sets for my grandkids. I also hunt for high quality 1991 - 2001 P obverse die cracks (from the neck to the rim) to give as gifts to tellers. Bottom line, it’s a low percentage / high volume game.
