In my travels today i received this quarter. :)
There is a ton going on with it!
I'd apprieciate if you all could help me to understand what all is going on here. I'm not yet familiar with 2 sides of a coin being involved with similar issues.
I had a hard time picking just 10 photographs.

IMO it looks like you have some kind of doubling, either Die Deterioration Doubling or Machine Doubling, plus some other damage. Could you please send just a clear, large photo of both sides of the entire coin. Click the full size photo and not the thumbnail.

As soon as I get done with my morning run the light will be good to take more pics. I did find last night this year is fraught with problems. This ATB quarter has strike through, struck through, DDD,MD, slide doubling, PMD unfortunately ..and a dull surface. The thing that gets me is the damage is on both obverse and reverse.

coins have two flat sides (three actually). That is at least 2 sides that can get damaged by a variety of means and not necessarily at the same time ... and a heavy hit can get seen on the opposing side.

An effect (worn/overused dies) see on
both sides of coins in this Series, as
well as Dimes in the past 10-15 years.

It is not a doubled die. On incuse letters, MD will seem to enlarge the side of the devices. On raised letters, the opposite.
