I ordered two proof sets so I could get two of the 2019-w pennies. Only one penny was included, although there were two envelopes to hold the pennies in. However, only one of those had the little insert that explains the significance of the penny. What are the odds the Mint will just send me another penny with the insert?

Just an observation..........I don't recall getting anything from the mint that has been taped up like that. The 'gorilla glue' that they use holds everything together. Perhaps the package was 'messed' with?

I received mine in good shape. The W cent was in it's bag but 'floating' around in the box. It wasn't in the special envelope. I'm just thankful it was in the package!! And, thankfully it's not blemished as badly as some I've seen!!

I didn’t want this set. From that standpoint, I haven’t seen more complaints about an item than this one has drawn. Makes me glad I passed. And that’s a sad situation.

Thought you were going to get one at the Whitman show?

I had already ordered from the mint by the time you told me.

The US mint did release one of their best recent commeratives with the Apollo 11 coin, but the 2019-W cent emits the stench of an arbitrary collectable created purely for the sake of making something collectable. I don't think such gimmicky and contrived releases do collectors or the hobby a service, though they may make the mint some extra money.

Yet the Canadian Mint does seem to get away with such things at considerable profit, but they do sometimes create stunning designs. Still, the secondary market for their voluminous releases seems mostly flat, with some exceptions. Again, the mint benefits but collectors and the hobby arguably don't. I stopped buying mint products years ago, excepting the Apollo 11 coin, and I no longer have any desire to "keep up" with some increasingly moving, not to mention increasingly more expensive, target.

Well not to worry, you saw the other post. Nothing much better by getting it in person.

I don't think they're using the 'gorilla glue' anymore. The packages I've received lately have been easier to open, and yes my W Cent Envelope was all crumpled up in the outer box.

Suspicious at best. The US Mint does not tape the boxes like that. I received my 2019 Mint Set yesterday. The box has self adhesive on the fold down flap. Box had Styrofoam packing. I will admit they could have protected the 2019 W Penny better. Like you said it was just laying in the box in cellophane packet. I would send a pic that you posted to this site to the US Mint. I will bet a dollar to a donut that the box was opened in transit and shoddily taped.

Something is definitely wrong, I live in Southaven,MS just below the fulfillment center in Memphis and have never received a package from them wrapped as your package was. They have always been sealed with the package flap and almost impossible to open. I would suspect some tampering along the delivery route. I do agree that the so called bonus is somewhat a disappointment, the complete series as outlined if you buy all of the options would have been of more value if included as a complete set say with the final Silver Mint Set.

Anything that gets collectors excited is great for the hobby. Many people have been hoping for new mint marks on current products.

i had the same problem you did. The quality person or persons all needs to be fired !!! Yes everything was moving all over the place inside the box of 8 proof sets I order. Yes(5) out of (8) sets are going back to the US Mint. There spots or same issues you had with the "W" cent and also my proof sets have issues. When I opened my box that almost looks like yours, them cents were everywhere. I mean like they were under the proof sets and on the side of the proof sets. I also thought how could the US Mint says premium cent and yet in them crappy loose plastic holder that is if you call them holder. So unacceptable as being premium coin and in them plastic holder. Why didn't they just order special holders for the "W" cent to be included in the proof set ?? Trying to save money and yet lost all concepts about what is a premium set by the US Mint. So I am returning them for refunds. No way to go back and forth trying to get it right as I have done this before

All those extra envelope and stuff to do what by the US Mint ?? To impress us collectors that they are getting better. Pretty sad for getting all of us to buy and ended up returning them.

I got mine in the mail today. I’m afraid to open it.

If only I had known the cents were worth so much, I’d have ordered more sets!

Is the 2019W proof copper? Or the regular pot metal?

Now that's funny. And even your envelope is worth a bunch as well!

Like I've said, returned (5) sets back to the Mint because of quality. I just hope that the US Mint learn and also read some of these comments or complaints because they needs to take it more seriously regarding quality. The next one will be the reversal proof and the the Unc version. I am more looking forward to the Unc version.

I opened my two sets. Lincoln proofs were just laying inside the box. They don’t seem to be damaged, but both exhibit the dark blemishes on the obverse others have complained about. These were intended as at least one to be a gift and possibly the other for me to keep. I’m a little miffed. Also, one. One of the proof Washington quarters looks like it has rub or a bag mark on it. I’ll post photos tomorrow with better lighting. I really only wanted the proof cents, because I went to West Point; the proof sets are meaningless to me. Should I just send them back and wait to buy the individual cents later? Do you think I could get them slabbed this year for under $30 per coin?
