1540 Civil War leads to Hungary being partitioned/ Transylvania an Ottoman vassal state, Western Hungarian under Habsburg control.
1683 Transylvania annexed to Habsburg Empire
    1705 Rebellion by Malcontents
    1848 Revolution
1919 Bela Kun seizes power in 1918, makes Hungary a Soviet Republic, unleases Red Terror.
1945 Soviets take over make Hungary a puppet state controlled by Stalin.
    1956 Revolution vs Soviet tyranny.

Béla Kuhn short time was the mayor of Tomsk. My city. At 1918 or 1919 as I remember. In the years of the Civil war in Russia Tomsk was one of the counterrevolutionary centers. But in November, 1919 rebels were expelled. If to compare from history of the USA, then we, Siberians, were confederates.

That one makes me laugh. Are not all rebellious folks malcontents? I feel certain that those being rebelled against would certainly call the other side malcontents!

I would so much enjoy to sit down and have a beer (or two . . . or three . . . maybe a schnapps or vodka?) with you two - panzerman and Siberian Man - and talk about coins, history and your life experiences.

But, actually, at us it is very beautiful. The boundless woods and there are not enough people. At us - as in the Wild West in the 19th century. Only do not shoot.

At us on the Epiphany it is accepted to bathe in an ice-hole. Our priests consecrate an ice-hole and water becomes sacred.
Generally, in the winter at us it is cheerful!

Spectacluar photos from Siberia, very beautifull landscape.
I remember, one Christmas Day, it was -41 celsius, coldest temperature ever. I did a crazy thing, I ran from my house to our chicken barn (150 meters) and back topless. When I got back to the house it was like being hit by a shock wave.
The guys/ gals in photos and your President must be very tough;) I have a lawn client who travelled to Northern Mongolia and then to Lake Baikal. She said the scenary was breathtaking.

You Russians - and even more Siberians - are amazing ! In Southern California the headlines last month were that the temperature had never reached 70 F. (21 C.) this February, the first time in 50 years or something similar. We have all been complaining about the cold !
